  Mistake:  Opening your door when you're not really sure who is there.  This is one of the ways attackers and burglars get into your house. Once inside he's out of sight of everyone but you, and can attack, rob and rape you - and who's going to hear anything and be able to help you?   
  Solution: Get a peep hole installed in the front door of your house.   
     
  Mistake: Leaving your car doors unlocked.   This applies to you whether you are inside of it driving or leaving it parked. An attacker can get into your unlocked car at a stop sign or red light or while you are in a store shopping. He may be armed with a gun or carrying a knife - or both.  
  Solution:  Lock those car doors and keep them locked.
